This Andis bonnet hair dryer is just what I was looking for. It’s exactly what I need for conditioning and setting my hair, when I take the time to do either of those things. As you can see from the photo, it takes up almost no shelf space at all.
This is simply a smart little portable hood dryer. I stopped perming my hair about 7 years ago but still flat ironed it. During the pandemic I cut off 4 inches of old relaxed hair and I am SO glad to have this dryer now to quickly dry my braids or twists for my twistouts. I start with high heat and high power until it gets hot then I turn it down to low and that works for me. At the lower setting it’s a little less noisy and and I can watch TV with my earbuds in and just relax.
While some reviewers said it doesn’t get hot enough I don’t think they’re taking into account that, unilike a hard hooded dryer, you don’t feel heat on your face and shoulders, so it’s easy to think it’s not doing it’s job. I stick my hand under the soft hood every now again and it’s putting out the heat for sure.
In short, this is a great tool to have in your hair styling arsenal. I feel like my hot oil and conditioning treatments are more effective under this dryer than an electric or microwaveable hot cap.
Well done, Andis!
