I’ve been designing and maintaining websites for decades. It can often be grueling work. What looks like a simple change on the front end can take hours on the back. That’s why I don’t do it anymore – for others.
When I decided during the pandemic that it was time to boost my profile, I registered my biz name at the county clerk’s office and hosted my site with a DreamHost “competitor”. Competitor is in quotes there because now that I see the vast difference, they don’t even come close.
I’ve never worked with a “managed WordPress” host before and didn’t realize the wealth of tools available that would literally change my world. SITE STAGING IS A GAME CHANGER!
It’s been almost a full year since I registered my business name but during the pandemic and having bipolar depression run rampant in my life, I didn’t have energy or patience to deal.
That’s what I THOUGHT. Because I’m used to creating a few pages, then putting up a maintenance page while I work behind the scenes to determine what exactly is not working. No more!!
With DreamHost’s site staging, I go live with the content that works, then I edit the staging site at my leisure. When it’s ready, I simply load it up to the live site. It literally took me more time to figure out the maintenance page plugin I was using than it did to learn how to master site staging.
Funds are still limited and the pandemic is still going strong, but I would POLE DANCE to keep my hosting plan with DreamHost. Not to mention their support is fire. They’re fun to tweet with, too.
When I think of the lackluster and limited support I received from hosts I raved about in the past, I just shake my head. DreamHost makes managing my website a pleasure. The only reason I even have time to write this long review is because I’m not stressing over undone posts and pages hanging out on a live site.
Thank you, thank you and thank you again, DreamHost. That name fits you superbly!
Hands down the best in the business that I’ve personally experienced!
